What to Look for in a Dog Sitter or Boarding Provider in the West Midlands
Whether you're choosing home boarding, a licensed kennel, or a sitter who stays in your own home, it's worth checking a few key things: local authority licensing (a legal requirement for anyone boarding dogs professionally in the UK), how many dogs are cared for at once, daily routine and exercise arrangements, and how nervous or anxious dogs are settled in. Reading recent reviews from other West Midlands dog owners, and visiting in person before booking where possible, are two of the best ways to judge whether a provider is the right fit.
How Much Does Dog Boarding Cost in the West Midlands?
Pricing in the West Midlands tends to sit close to or slightly below the UK average. Expect around £16–£30 per night for home boarding, and £13–£24 per day for daytime sitting, with central Birmingham typically at the higher end. For more detail, see our full UK Dog Boarding Services guide.

Are dog boarding providers in the West Midlands licensed?
Anyone offering dog boarding services professionally in the UK is legally required to hold a local authority licence. Always confirm this directly before booking.

Home boarding means your dog stays in a host's home, often with more one-to-one attention. Kennel boarding is a dedicated facility, which can suit dogs that prefer a more structured routine. Check each listing for which type they offer.
