Recently, the Government has acted to improve breeding standards, by requiring a licence to breed dogs. This Ofqual regulated and accredited course reflects the latest updates to the legislation

This qualification focuses on the knowledge required, reflecting the latest updates to the legislation
The IMDT Dog Breeding course provides you with the required officially recognised, Ofqual regulated, Level 3 qualification covering Canine Care and Welfare in the breeding environment
By ensuring you have the knowledge needed by all to breed dogs responsibly, compassionately, and professionally, you will directly help to improve the lives dogs

Via successful completion of this course, you will have achieved the legally required qualification to present to Local Animal Welfare Officers but more importantly, you will be playing an active part in the drive to ensure that the future breeding of dogs is governed by responsibility, compassion and up to date knowledge

This 2-month correspondence course is designed to specifically satisfy the new licencing requirements for those wishing to achieve the Higher Standard recognition in canine welfare, set out in the Animal Welfare Licensing guidelines.

Qualification: Level 3: OCN London Qualification Regulated by Ofqual

Duration: 2 months
Delivery method: Distance Learning via email. A tutor will be available to offer support and guidance throughout the duration of your course

Animal Activity Licensing Regulations
This course has its basis in ‘The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2020 Guidance notes for conditions for breeding dogs’
The course is made up of two Units: Unit 1 Welfare and Professional Standards and Unit 2 Care and Professional Standards
Unit 1 requires approximately 30 hours study
Unit 2 requires approximately 50 hours study

The course totals 80 hours of study, with a guideline of 10 hours study per week to complete the course in 2 months. The course may be completed sooner if you have the time to study more.
When you book your course you will receive your Welcome email, a guide to the course and the course reading material and ‘Question and Answer’ workbooks for Unit 1 and 2
Your tutor will be available by email throughout the duration of your course for any support and guidance needed
